Do I have to have a BT phone line to apply for this award scheme? If you do not have a residential BT phone line that can be used to connect to the internet you will need to install this in order to receive the award. Please be advised that this cost is the responsibility of the organisation/group.
How do I know if I have a BT residential phone line? Call 0800 800 150 (freephone from a BT landline, charges may apply on other networks) and select option nine to speak to an adviser. Give them your phone number and address and they will be able to tell you if you have a BT residential phone line.
What types of groups receive awards? Will the category of my organisation/group I choose make a difference to the outcome of my application? No. We request this information for reporting purposes only.
Do I have to provide a breakdown of all funding received by the group? Please specify how much funding you have for IT and training purposes during the financial year. We understand that this is an estimate, but please be as accurate as you can and please do not submit your entire financial year end report.
What is a direct/indirect beneficiary and how do I calculate these numbers? Definitions of DIRECT and INDIRECT beneficiaries are outlined in the following example, based on a fictional Riding for the Disabled group:
DIRECT beneficiaries: those who will physically use the computer and broadband access in the office/group's location e.g. 10 - Riding teachers who create a website to promote their group to attract new disabled riders and use the internet to research funding/new equipment
INDIRECT beneficiaries: those who, while not physically using the computer and broadband access themselves, will benefit from it in some way e.g. 500 - Disabled riders who hear about the group via the new website and benefit from lessons. Other indirect beneficiaries might be the relatives and carers of those disabled riders who are able to have respite while the riders are having lessons
Who is responsible for security if I receive an award? Successful applicants must accept responsibility for the award package and it is important to consider the facilities in place for storage, access and insurance. Your answer will be taken into consideration during the judging process. Award winners are strongly advised to make arrangements to insure their laptop for a minimum of £500.
My group has won a BT Community Connections award in the past, can I re-apply? Past winners of a BT Community Connections Award are not eligible to apply for a BTCC Award. Previously successful applicants are eligible to apply a BTCC Cluster Award.
