Accessibility Features

The BTCC site contains features to help visitors with disabilities and accessibility problems to navigate and use the pages.  Each page has been optimised for maximum compatibility with screen reader software, while "Access Keys" allow for enhanced navigation.

Access Keys

A set of access keys are used to navigate between the major areas of each page, allowing screen reader and keyboard-only users to jump directly to their desired "region".

The Access Keys for the regions are as follows:

• H - Allows a fast jump to the "Home", About, Apply, Contact, etc. links.
• S - The "Side" Navigation Menu of pages within the current section.
• L - "Login" - Jump directly to the Login / Logout form.
• B - The "Body" of the page, bypassing the navigation menus, banners, etc.  This access key jumps directly to the content of pages.

Methods for activating, support and using access keys vary from browser to browser.  When using Windows, it is common to use the Alt key in combination with the accelerator key - for example, Alt-T - whereas on Macintosh browsers the corresponding keypress would be Command-T.  It is recommended you consult the documentation for your browser for the correct method for using access keys.

For users with visual impairments or reading disabilities, alternate colour schemes are available to improve readability.  At the top of every page there is a link to the select accessibility settings page.
